West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell has been signed up by the Barbados Royals ahead of the 2023 CPL season.
Powell comes in as a trade-off from Jamaica Tallawahs, who have secured the services of Hayden Walsh Jr. in return, as part of the deal.
The current West Indies T20I skipper had a successful stint with the Tallawahs last season, leading them to the title win. Walsh Jr. on the other hand, played his first season for the Royals in 2019, where he finished as the Player of the Tournament. The leg-spinner has also been a part of the net bowlers’ setup with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
The 2023 CPL is set to begin on August 17 and will be played in five Caribbean countries, with the caravan coming to an end on September 24 in Guyana. For the first time since 2019, Barbados will also be hosting CPL matches.
